SURBITON, UK – Orcadian Energy has filed an addendum to its concept select report for the heavy oil Pilot field in the UK central North Sea to Britain’s Oil and Gas Authority.
This follows completion of an agreed work program that included polymer core flood tests and work to reduce CO2 emissions from the project.
The selected concept has been revised to include an improvement in process heat management and power generation efficiency. And to further improve emissions management, Orcadian has opted to include a floating wind turbine in the development.
Following a review by Crondall Energy Ltd., the company claims these initiatives could reduce Scope 1 emissions from the project by more than 80%, to 2.6 kg CO2e/bbl.
