LYSAKER, Norway – Aker BP and its partners aim to select a concept for the Frosk discovery in the Norwegian North Sea by the end of this year, the company said in its latest results statement.

Frosk, in the Alvheim area, has a test production permit through the Bøyla template which currently expires next month, although Aker BP plans to seek an extension.

In the same region, the semisubmersible Deepsea Nordkapp started drilling the Kameleon Infill Mid well in late March, but difficulties encountered in the overburden section of the well delayed drilling down to the reservoir section. However, first oil should still follow during 4Q.

Around the same time the company plans to spud a new tri-lateral production well into the southern Boa area, drilled from the Boa extension subsea manifold, as part of its strategy of slowing production decline in the Alvheim area.

At the Ivar Aasen field in the Utsira High region of the North Sea, the first of a two-well IOR campaign is due to spud by the end of August, and both wells should be completed by year-end. The license partners in the Hanz field development, a probable tie-in to the Ivar Aasen infrastructure, are considering resuming work on the project.

In addition, the company will partner with Spirit Energy in the Sørvesten exploration well in license PL 780.

To the north in the Norwegian Sea, installation and tie-in of static umbilicals and of subsea production jumpers have finished for Phase 1 of the Ærfugl-Skarv subsea tieback. Pipelay is scheduled for the current quarter with production set to start in 4Q.

As for Phase 2, pre-lay rock installation campaign has finished, with start-up of the two remaining wells late in 2021.
