HOUSTON – Talos Energy says unitization discussions for the Zama oil field offshore Mexico are progressing, under the regulations of Mexico’s Ministry of Energy (SENER).

Although the company discovered the field in block 7, it also extends into an adjoin block operated by Pemex.

Talos expects the National Hydrocarbon Commission (CNH) will decided in the coming weeks on the shares in the reservoir between the two blocks, with SENER then issuing an instruction to unitize.

That in turn will trigger a defined period of negotiations with Pemex on finalizing the Unit Agreement for Zama - and when that has been signed, Talos should be in a position to submit its field development plan to CNH for approval.
