North Sea Heisenberg drilling confirms reserves range

Equinor and partner DNO International have drilled a third well on their 2023 Heisenberg oil and gas discovery in the Norwegian North Sea.

Well 35/11-30 S, drilled by the semisub Deepsea Atlantic in 365 m water depth in PL827SB, had two objectives; the primary target was the Angel exploration prospect, followed by delineation drilling on Heisenberg.

The section through Angel delivered sub-commercial gas volumes (an estimated 0.1-0.5 MMcmoe recoverable). Drilling onwards through Heisenberg, the well encountered a 6-m oil-filled Eocene reservoir, confirming the original recoverable reserves range of 24 MMboe to 56 MMboe.

Equinor/DNO are reviewing options for a tieback to offshore infrastructure in the area. This could be coordinated with the development of other recent finds nearby the Troll and Gjøa production hubs.

Last week, DNO (as operator) started drilling the Falstaff prospect. Later in the year, the company will participate in a well on another target in the Norwegian sector, Ringand.
