The Noble Venturer drillship has arrived at the port of Luba on Bioko Island for a drilling campaign on two blocks offshore Equatorial Guinea.

Initially, the vessel will drill two infill wells on Block G in water depths of 250 m and 740 m for operator Trident Energy, before transferring to adjacent Block S to drill the Kosmos Energy-operated Akeng Deep infrastructure-led exploration well.

Trident and its partners Panoro, Kosmos and GEPetrol awarded Noble Corp. the work in April after canceling the contract of the previously designated rig, owned by Island Offshore.

Block G includes the producing Ceiba Field and the Okume offshore complex.

Panoro CEO John Hamilton said Akeng Deep will be a high-impact well that, if successful, could open a new play fairway that extends into the adjacent Block EG-01 that Panoro operates.
