WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- Analysis to date suggests that AWE’s Tui SW-2 oil discovery offshore New Zealand is not commercially significant, according to partner New Zealand Oil & Gas.
The well was drilled in license PMP 38158 in the offshore Taranaki basin, southwest of the producing Tui field. Last week, the partners reported oil shows at the top of the Kapuni F sands.
Once wireline logging has been completed, a 7-in. (17.8-cm) liner will be run to allow the well to be suspended for possible future use as a gas injector.
The Kan Tan IV rig will then transfer a short distance to the northeast to drill the Kahu-1 prospect well.
