MELBOURNE -- MEO Australia is looking for a rig to drill the Artemis gas prospect off Western Australia later this year.

The Artemis-1 well will target resources of around 12 tcf in Jurassic-age reservoirs close to the North West Shelf Gas Venture fields contracted to new and existing LNG projects.

MEO operates the WA-360-P license with a 70% interest, but has been in negotiations with a company new to Australia to take up to 50% of this interest.

In the WA-361-P permit, which MEO operates with 35%, the partnership has been focussed of late on seismic interpretation, incorporating results from the Zeus-1 well. The main objectives are to establish the extent of Eliassen sandstone reservoirs above the main unconformity, and to further define the West Zeus lead and a newly identified lead (Lead A) in the graben south of the Gandara-1 well.
