OSLO -- Wildcat well 6507/6-3 in the Norwegian Sea is dry, according to StatoilHydro.
The purpose of the well was to prove hydrocarbons in Middle and Lower Jurassic reservoir rocks. Reservoir rocks of significant thickness and good quality were encountered, the company says.
The semisubmersibleTransocean Winner drilled the well to a total depth of 1,850 m (6,070 ft) below the sea surface, and the well was concluded in Early Jurassic rocks.
TheTransocean Winner will now proceed to production license 190 in the North Sea to drill wildcat well 30/8-4 S.
