ABERDEEN, UK – MPX North Sea has exercised an option under its drilling contract with Awilco Drilling and SPD to use the semisub Wilhunterfor a second well in the UK sector.

This is the third well of the SPD-managed, multi-client 2011 drilling program, and has an estimated contract value of around $7.3 million.

MPX’s two wells should start in direct continuation of the rig’s current well for Nautical Petroleum on the Kraken field in the northern North Sea.

WilHunter is one of Awilco’s two Enhanced Pacesetter semis, capable of drilling in water depths up to 1,500 ft (457 m).
