STOCKHOLM, Sweden – A side track of Noble Energy’s latest wildcat offshore Equatorial Guinea has found oil, according to partner PA Resources (PAR).

Carla South I-7 ST-1, drilled as a side track to the I-7 exploration well in block I, reached a total MD of 3,460 m (11,351 ft).

Drill cuttings, wireline log data, and downhole measurements indicate a total of 9-11 m (29-36 ft) of net oil pay in good-quality sandstones at several levels. The well is currently being P&A’d.

PAR added that later this year an appraisal well would be drilled on block I, followed by a long-term test on the Diega field.
