OSLO, Norway — Equinor has delineated the Heisenberg oil and gas discovery in the northern Norwegian North Sea and proven oil in the deeper-lying Hummer prospect.

According to partner DNO, a follow-up well is likely during the second quarter on an additional deep prospect, Angel, while also delineating Heisenberg toward the west.

The structure is within tieback range of the Troll B and Kvitebjørn hubs, both operated by Equinor, and Gjøa.

Studies are underway for a fast-track development in coordination with other finds in the area such as last year’s Carmen discovery, DNO added.

The Deepsea Stavanger semisub drilled wells 35/10-11 S and A in a shallow play in 354 m of water in license 827 SB. The Norwegian Oil Directorate estimated recoverable resources in the range 24 MMboe to 56 MMboe.

Well 35/10-11 S encountered a 10-m sandstone reservoir in the Hordaland Group and a 3-m sandstone oil column in the secondary exploration target in the Balder Formation.

Well 35/10-11 A penetrated a sandstone reservoir with a 12-m oil and gas column in the Hordaland Group, and an oil/water contact at 1,576 m below sea level.
