STAVANGER, Norway  eDrilling is leading a project to develop software that would provide secure well control for drilling into CO2 storage reservoirs, as a CO2 plume might interfere with well construction.

According to the company, full-scale CO2 storage requires comprehensive analysis and knowledge of reservoir and formation to eliminate risks for leakage underground. Well control technology for carbon capture and storage addresses these risks for safe and controlled infill drilling in mature CO2 storage.

Partners in the project include Equinor, Shell, Gassnova, EBN, Baker Hughes, Wild Well Control and Transocean.
