LONDON — IOG plans to drill appraisal wells on two structures in the U.K. southern North Sea, following the completion of the Southwark east and west development wells this fall.

The jackup Noble Hans Deul, currently on location at Southwark, will drill the Goddard and Kelham North/Central wells, with Petrofac continuing as the well operator.

Work concluded on geophysical site surveys for the wells in March, with the Nailsworth area incorporated in the same campaign. Geotechnical surveys are planned later this quarter.

The basis of the designs for the two appraisal wells is complete, and detailed well planning, contracting and long-lead procurement are underway.

Drilling of the Southwark east well resumed in mid-April following seabed stability issues; no further problems have been encountered.

IOG expects to receive clearance for the 6-km (3.7-mile), 24-inch pipeline extension route from the Saturn Banks pipeline system to the Southwark platform this month, with Subsea 7’s Borealis vessel performing pipelay and trenching in June.

A temporary solution for the chemical injection fault on the Blythe platform topsides has lifted production capacity to 75 MMcf/d. This should increase to full design capacity once modifications are implemented over the coming months.
