TORONTO – ExxonMobil’s latest exploration well offshore Guyana was a dry hole.

According to Eco (Atlantic) Oil & Gas, which recently acquired a 6.4% interest in ExxonMobil’s partner JHI Associates, the Jabillo-1 well in the Canje block will be P&A’d, having reached its planned TD of 6,475 m (21,243 ft).

It was designed to test Upper Cretaceous reservoirs in a stratigraphic trap in 2,903 m (9,524 ft) of water, 265 km (164 mi) northeast of Georgetown.

The drillship Stena DrillMAX, currently operating for ExxonMobil in the Stabroek block, is due to spud the Sapote-1 well in the southeastern portion of the Canje block in mid-August, with an estimated drilling duration of up to 60 days.

Sapote-1 is 100 km (62 mi) southeast of Jabillo, 50 km (31 mi) north of the Haimara gas/condensate discovery in the Stabroek block, and 60 km (37 mi) northwest of APA/TotalEnergies’ Maka Central oil discovery in block 58 off Suriname.
