    BP extends West Vela charter in the Gulf of Mexico

    LONDON – BP has awarded Seadrill Partners LLC’s drillship West Vela additional work in the US Gulf of Mexico.

    The contract value for the firm portion is expected to be $23.8 million. The contract is expected to run until early April 2021.

    The West Vela has been under contract with BP since November 2013. According to Seadrill’s latest fleet status report, the drillship’s contract was expected to end in November 2020.
