MELBOURNE, Australia – The drillship Stena Forth is at the Port of Callao in Lima preparing for a program in Peru’s offshore Tumbes basin.
Once customs clearance and final permits have come through, the vessel should be ready to spud the Marina-1 exploration well in block Z-38 during the final week of January.
Karoon is the operator, in partnership with Tullow Oil and Pitkin Petroleum. Drilling should take around 60 days to complete, according to Tullow.
Marina is a large fault bounded structure with targets at multiple levels in the Tertiary Pliocene La Cruz to Cardalitos formations. Karoon estimates potential resources of up to 256 MMbbl of oil.
