Archer expanding downhole monitoring service via Raptor agreement

Sept. 4, 2024
Archer Well Services and Raptor Data will combine efforts to create a global plug and barrier validation and verification.

Archer Well Services has entered a global exclusive license agreement with Aberdeen-based Raptor Data.

The partnership will integrate Raptor's wireless acoustic telemetry technologies into Archer Well Services’ well integrity portfolio, improving the company’s monitoring capabilities.

Raptor specializes in research, design, engineering and manufacture of downhole tools for plugging and abandonment. Its proprietary wireless acoustic telemetry technology supports plug and barrier validation and verification.

Pathfinder, its acoustic telemetry system, is used for bismuth, cement and mechanical plugging methods. In addition to wellbore pressure and temperature measurements, Pathfinder also analyzes acoustic signals and operational noise to interpret events, applying AI alongside a digital twin to diagnose in-well occurrences.

Nicholas Pantin, executive vice president of Archer Well Services, said Raptor’s downhole acoustic monitoring tool that, with its wireless data broadcasting capabilities, would expand Archer Well Services offering in the temporary and permanent plug and barriers validation and verification market. That includes data transmission of downhole pressure and temperature broadcast via a wireless acoustic telemetry from below the barrier.
