ABERDEEN, UK -- Firstdrill Ltd. has signed a contract with Zarubezhneftegaz, a wholly owned subsidiary of Russia's Gazprom, to provide engineering services for two offshore exploration wells to be drilled in the Gulf of Maricato, offshore Venezuela, this year.

"Firstdrill is very pleased to be working with Zarubezhneftegaz. This is the first time our company has worked in South America, though we are confident that our operations engineering experience gained in the North Sea along with many other international areas of the world will hold us in good stead," says Peter Redman, Firstdrill's managing director.

Firstdrill recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and opened two additional offices, one in Aberdeen and one in Houston.
