ABERDEEN, UK – Woodside Energy has contracted Wood to provide services for the FPSO under construction for the deepwater Sangomar field development, 100 km (62 mi) south of Dakar, Senegal.

On completion in 2023, the vessel will have a production capacity of close to 100,000 b/d of crude oil.

A multidisciplinary Wood team will engineer a combined production management system (PMS) and virtual metering system (VMS) for the FPSO’s control room and at Woodside's offices in Senegal and Perth.

The PMS and Wood’s Virtuoso process digital twin will provide real-time monitoring of the production system, decision support for complex operations, and surveillance for hydrate and wax management.

According to the company, the PMS will ensure continuity of production and minimized flaring to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and methane intensity, while the VMS will limit the number of subsea flow meters required for the development.
