HUNTLY, UK – Private equity firm Blue Water Energy has acquired Pipeline Technique Ltd. (PTL) from Heerema Marine Contractors.
PTL provides pipeline welding, field joint coating and spoolbase services. Its headquarters are in Huntly, with other work sites in the USA, Middle East, Brazil, and Southeast Asia.
The company, formed in 1998, has devised solutions for offshore construction projects, ranging from ultra-deepwater and ultra-heavy wall thickness to fatigue-sensitive pipelines.
It claims to have established relationships with leading contractors, having performed welding and coating services on projects such as Appomattox in the US Gulf of Mexico and Kaombo offshore Angola.
