ABERDEEN, UK – Innovate UK, Britain’s Innovation Agency, has given the University of Aberdeen and an Aberdeenshire, Scotland-based oil and gas company a high rating for their jointly developed underwater lifting system.
The Knowledge Transfer Partnership focused on developing this system as a solution to technically challenging and costly subsea maintenance, commissioning and decommissioning operations.
Under the project, Aubin’s patented pumpable liquid buoyancy technology has been incorporated into an engineered system that can enable divers and ROVs to lift and move objects underwater.
Earlier this year the Aubin Underwater Lifting System was officially launched at the National Decommissioning Centre of Excellence, a partnership between the University and the Oil and Gas Technology Centre.
