PSA approves appraisal, well interventions offshore Norway

Lundin Petroleum has the go-ahead from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority to drill an appraisal well in the Barents Sea.
Offshore staff OSLO, Norway – Lundin Petroleum has the go-ahead from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to drill an appraisal well in the Barents Sea.
The semisubmersibleLeiv Eirkisson will spud well 7220/11-5 S in production license 609 later this month, with the drilling, completion, and testing program set to last 134 days. Water depth at the site is 386 m (1,266 ft).
In addition, the PSA has authorized Norske Shell consent to use theIsland Constructor vessel for well interventions on the Knarr and Ormen Lange fields.
The Knarr field is in the northern Norwegian North Sea, 50 km (31 mi) northeast of the Snorre complex. It produces through an FPSO with two subsea templates for production and injection wells.
Ormen Lange, in the southern Norwegian Sea, has been developed using subsea wells, with the wellstream sent through a pipeline to theNyhamna onshore facility for processing and export.
