HAMILTON, Bermuda  Repsol Sinopec Resources UK has awarded Archer a $165 million contract to P&A 30 wells at the Fulmar Field and two wells in the Halley Field in the UK central North Sea.

Archer will employ its modular P&A rig Emerald for the campaign, also providing well services to reduce the time and cost of each well plugging exercise.

The Fulmar work scope includes removal of the existing drilling rig. Archer expects to start operations in the second half of 2024 or early 2025.

Archer CEO Dag Skindlo said, “The delivery model with integrated drilling and well services, supported by partners, is a step change in how operators permanently plug and abandon oil and gas wells…We have noted an uptake in interest and tender proposals for such holistic P&A models…”
