CALGARY, Canada — CNOOC has produced first gas from the MAC Field development in the Madura Strait production sharing contract offshore East Java, Indonesia, according to partner Cenovus Energy's latest results statement.
This is one of several shallow-water fields in the concession, which include the producing BD, MDA and MBH. Further gas discoveries at the MBF and MAX fields are under review for development.
Cenovus has a 40% interest, with a subsidiary of Samudra Energy being the other partner.
In the Eastern Canada Atlantic region, the Suncor-operated Terra Nova FPSO is undergoing commissioning in Newfoundland following life extension upgrades in Portugal. It should resume production on the Terra Nova Field in the current quarter.
