SEINHAUSEN, SwitzerlandTransocean’s first-quarter revenue efficiency was impacted by downtime on the Deepwater Titan drillship, related to its BOP.

However, the vessel has since resumed day rate operations.

The company’s overall operating and maintenance costs were lower at $523 million, mainly due to cost savings on idle rigs, reduced contract preparation expenses and lower in-service maintenance costs for the operating fleet.

First-quarter capex of $83 million was directed mainly at the newbuild Deepwater Aquila ultradeepwater drillship.

One highlight of the year to date has been a 365-day extension of Deepwater Asgard’s contract at a rate of $505,000/d.

This confirms the sustained tightness in the high-specification floater market, said CEO Jeremy Thigpen.

“Looking ahead, we remain encouraged by the demand outlook and expect to see numerous long-term contracts awarded over the next several months,” he added.
