PERTH, Australia – Woodside Petroleum expects to participate in four wells this year offshore West Africa and Australia.
Two are on blocks offshore Gabon that the company farmed into recently.
The first well on the Likuale (F14 block) offshore Gabon (Woodside 30%) is currently drilling, targeting a potentially high-impact oil prospect.
This will be followed by the Ivela-1 well on a large sub-salt prospect in the Luna Muetse (E13) block.
To the north offshore Morocco, preparations continue for drilling this quarter of the Rabat Deep-1 well on the JP1 oil prospect.
In the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia, the company plans to drill the deepwater Ferrand-A gas prospect.
Woodside, which has agreed to become operator of the deepwater SNE oilfield development offshore Senegal, says the partners have agreed on the facilities for the first-phase development.
These will comprise a stand-alone FPSO facility with subsea wells and infrastructure. Under subsequent SNE development phases, there are options for export of the field’s gas to shore and subsea tie-backs from other reservoir intervals and fields.
Woodside aims to submit the Phase 1 Environment and Social Impact Assessment this spring, followed by the start of front-end engineering and design in Q4. The company anticipates first oil some time between 2021-2023.
As for the Greater Western Flank Phase 2 project offshore Western Australia, reservoir drilling has been completed.
At the Sculptor Rankin drill center, with the mobile offshore drilling unit relocated to the Keast Dockrell drill center.
Offshore construction activities should get under way before mid-year.
At the Greater Enfield project, drilling and installation of subsea facilities will start during the current quarter.
