TOKYO – INPEX will relinquish its interests in two production-sharing contracts (PSCs) offshore Indonesia, both of which are due to expire at year-end.
Effective Jan. 1, the state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) will assume control of the Offshore Mahakam block from current operator Total.
However, Total and INPEX are in discussions with Indonesia’s government on retaining some level of participation under the new PSC.
As for the Attaka block, INPEX is in talks on the handover process both with the government and Chevron, the operator of the Attaka Unit. The latter is a unitized area comprising sections of the Attaka block and the adjacent East Kalimantan block to the north.
