NICOSIA, Cyprus – Eni expects to start exploration drilling by year-end on block 6 offshore southern Cyprus, in partnership with Total.
The two parties signed the exploration and production-sharing contract for the concession nine months ago.
Following this well, Eni expects to spud its first wildcat in offshore block 3, where its partner is Kogas.
The company’s CEO Claudio Descalzi discussed the plans during a recent meeting with the President of theRepublic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis.
Talks extended to possible commercialization of Cyprus’ hydrocarbon resources through infrastructure in Egypt, where Eni is a major player. This could involve synergies with other emerging energy projects in the East Mediterranean.
