SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni expects production from the integrated oil and gas development project in the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) block offshore western Ghana to reach a peak of 45,000 b/d by the end of this year.
The accelerated ramp-up is due to the company starting production three months ahead of schedule, with this year’s output from the project expected to total 5.5 MMbbl, 2.8 MMbbl above the original target.
Eni adds that this is the only deepwater non-associated gas development in Sub-Saharan Africa in which the gas is entirely dedicated to the domestic market, with Ghana due to receive supplies for more than 15 years.
Construction works of theonshore reception facility and the pipelines is 63% complete, and start-up should follow in 2018. The gas produced by OCTP will allow the country to generate a minimum of 900 MW of power, potentially rising in the future, increasing to up to 1.5 MW.
