ABERDEEN, UK – Centrica North Sea has awarded HydraWell a three-year frame contract to provide P&A technology and services for the ‘A’ fields in the UK southern North Sea.
RecentlyCentrica submitted its proposal for decommissioning of the fields which include Ann, Audrey, Alison and Annabel fields, 100 km (62 mi) northeast of the Norfolk coast in eastern England. In total, the company plans to P&A 23 wells.
HydraWell will perform annulus integrity testing and perforation, washing and cement of annulus and inner bore using its HydraHemera high-pressure perf, wash and cement, PWC jetting system.
The agreement carries two one-year extension options, and Centrica may decide to broaden the contract to future support of its other UK offshore assets.
“HydraWell’s technology enables plugging of each well in two to three days instead of 10-14 days with conventional section milling methods. This means that the operator could save up to 200 rig days on a 20-well field,” claimed CEO Mark Sørheim.
Centrica has used the PWC technology previously on other fields in UK and Dutch waters.
