HOUSTON– McDermott’s construction vessels DLV 2000 and Amazon have joined the company’s Middle East area fleet and are currently active on shallow-water installation campaigns.
Fabrication continues for theSaudi Aramco long-term agreement, the contractor adds, and engineering and procurement is progressing on Aramco’s offshore Safaniya field Phase 5 and 4 jackets and three observation platforms.
The KJO Hout project is also progressing in terms of pipeline-related activities and hookup/pre-commissioning work, with the project likely to be substantially complete later this year.
McDermott’s fabrication complex in Batam, Indonesia, has completed three of 14 jackets for Saudi Aramco and these have been loaded out for delivery to Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia.
In the Asia/Pacific region, McDermott’sDB 30 barge is close to concluding laying of two offshore pipelines for Brunei Shell Petroleum.
During 2Q the contractor completed mooring and hookup of theIchthys Explorer central processing facility, claimed to be the world’s largest semisubmersible platform, offshore northwest Australia.
TheLV 108 is currently employing its vertical lay system to install the flexible risers and umbilicals. Diving intervention virtually resolved remediation work needed following a failure identified in a supplier-provided subsea-pipe connector component.
McDermott adds that the diving intervention on Ichthys was the deepest saturation dive ever performed off the coast of Australia.
Engineering, procurement and fabrication continues for Woodside’s Greater Western Flank Phase 2 pipeline project offshore Western Australia.
Offshore India, the company is in a consortium managing ONGC’s Vashishta project; theNO 105 has completed installation of the remaining deepwater pipeline sections, and partner Larsen & Toubro is finalizing the construction of the onshore pipeline sections and installation of the onshore umbilical.
During 2Q McDermott progressed detail design and fabrication of the compression platform for the Abkatun-A2 project, the largest facility the company has constructed for PEMEX.
Procured equipment has started to come through: major lifts of the mezzanine and top deck sections are on schedule and jacket fabrication is under way.
The company has also started construction of the topsides and jacket forBP’s Angelin project offshore Trinidad and Tobago at its yard in Altamira, Mexico.
McDermott’s Gulfport spoolbase has finished fabricating rigid pipeline stalks for Hess’ Penn State project, a subsea tieback in 1,500 ft (457 m) of water in the US Gulf of Mexico, with installation anticipated later in the current quarter.
Finally, the company has finished engineering for the Atlanta project offshore Brazil with all flexible lines, umbilicals, and structures ready to be installed.
