LONDON – Tullow Oil continues to negotiate an extension for the C-10 block offshore Mauritania with the country’s Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Mines.
According to partner Sterling Energy, the aim is a fair and equable extension to give the joint venture beyond November 2017 to mature a drillable prospect.
The selection may be influenced by results ofKosmos Energy’s forthcoming well on the 2-3-Bboe Lamantin prospect in block C-6/C-12 just outboard and northwest of C-10.
Sterling and Tullow also expect the offshoreChinguetti field to cease production in late 2017, with decommissioning operations starting shortly afterwards. They expect to receive sanction from the government for their abandonment/decommissioning program and associated environmental plan during 4Q.
