Offshore staff
LONDON– Cairn Energy has contracted Lloyd’s Register (LR) to provide project management and technical assistance for development surveys of the SNE oil fieldoffshore Senegal. Â
LR’s geophysical and geotechnical expertise specialists will participate in a site investigation campaign that will employ two vessels to survey and investigate a 400 sq km-plus (154 sq mi) area in the Sangomar Offshore and Sangomar Deep Offshore license blocks.
Offshore operations are due to be completed in September.
The geophysical, shallow geotechnical and environmental site survey will assist planning and engineering of production facilities.
LR’s brief is to ensure optimum information on seabed and sub-seabed conditions to facilitate the safe, secure, and efficient design and installation of facilities; identify and investigate the relevant seabed areas and shallow soil zones; and assess the location for the presence of potentially important seabed habitats.
Its teams will also cover the geotechnical site investigation to help Cairn develop suitable arrangements for the subsea production system from drill centers connected via flowlines and umbilicals to the FPSO, and will in addition provide information relating to an export pipeline route to shore.
LR has been supporting Cairn over the past two years with the SNE field development, in the form of a metocean study, a regional geo-hazard assessment desk study, a seabed and shallow soils ground model, and a continental shelf regional study for export pipeline routes.
In addition, LR’s Well Engineering team has supported theCairn-led multi-well appraisal drilling campaign off Senegal, with the provision of staff and services.
