ABERDEEN, UK – The semisubmersible Deepsea Bergen has completed a drillstem test (DST) on the 31/7-2 S Brasse appraisal well in the Norwegian North Sea.

According to operatorFaroe Petroleum, it provided clear evidence of a prolific reservoir and high-quality sands with multi-Darcy permeability at this location.

An extensive data acquisition program included cutting of cores, a full suite of wireline logs, fluid samples, and the DST.

The well flowed at a constrained maximum stable rate of 6,187 b/d of oil from a 3.6-m (11.8-ft) perforated interval, through a 1-in. choke and with 800 psia at the wellhead.

Site sampling confirmed good-quality light crude similar to the nearbyBrage field (Faroe 14.3%), with 36.2° API oil and a gas/oil ratio of 887cf/bbl, to be confirmed by onshore laboratory testing.

Following permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the rig will now drill a side track well, targeting a location 1,000 m (3,281 ft) west of the current main wellbore. The goals are to map reservoir distribution and further delineate theBrasse structure.
