DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Petroleum (QP) says its subsidiaries have mobilized all available resources and activated business continuity plans.
This follows the decision by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Bahrain to break off diplomatic relations withQatar.
The company said it is prepared to take all necessary decisions to maintain its commitments to customers. The country is the world’s largest LNG exporter, responsible for more than 30% of LNG trade.
There had been concerns over interruptions to shipments of LNG from Qatar’s offshore gas field developments, although traffic has reportedly resumed via Omani waters.
Last month, QP contracted Chiyoda Corp. to study modifications needed for debottlenecking the capacity of LNG trains in Ras Laffan Industrial City, in order to process further volumes of gas from theplanned new offshore North Field project.
This would involve a development on the southern part of the field with additional export capacity of 2 bcf/d.
