OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has unveiled the APA 2017 licensing round, comprising predefined areas with blocks in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea, and the Barents Sea.
Deadline for applications is midday on Sept. 1.
APA 2017 represents the second largest expansion of the rolling licensing process so far, and the largest to date in the Barents Sea.
“This is imperative for effective resource management,” said Minister of Petroleum and Energy Terje Søviknes.
The predefined area has been expanded by 87 blocks, of which 34 are in the Norwegian Sea and 53 in the Barents Sea. They include blocks west in the Norwegian Sea and areas around the Wisting,Alta, and Gohta discoveries in the southern Barents Sea.
Awards will be announced during 1Q 2018.
