Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has authorized Statoil to drill an exploration well on the Kayak prospect in the Barents Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has authorized Statoil to drill an exploration well on the Kayak prospect in the Barents Sea.
The semisubmersibleSonga Enablerwill drill well 7219/9-2 in block 7219 in production license 532, 198 km (123 mi) northwest of Sørøya, Finnmark County, and around 140 km (87 mi) northwest of the Goliat field.
Water depth at the site is 336 m (1,102 ft). Drilling should last 27 days.
