OSLO, Norway – Statoil has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to begin operations at the Gina Krog field platform and associated pipeline system in the Norwegian North Sea.
The PSA expects production to start later this month.
Last June, Statoil received partial consent to put into service the accommodation quarters, cranes, pipelines, and other items necessary for in the build-up to first oil and gas.
The pipeline system comprises the gas export pipeline between Gina Krog and Sleipner A, the oil export pipeline between the Gina Krog facility and the Gina Krog FSO storage unit, and the gas import pipeline from Zeepipe IIA toGina Krog.
The consent also includes an installation for future reception of power from onshore, to be delivered under Phase 2 of the nearby Johan Sverdrup project.
PSA is currently processing Statoil’s application to deploy the Gina Krog FSO.
Gina Krog is 120 km (75.5 mi) west of Stavanger and 30 km (18.6 mi) northwest of Sleipner A. The development is based on a steel-jacket processing and accommodation platform and a vessel for oil storage.
Gas will be transported by pipeline via Sleipner, with a jackup drilling the development wells.
