ABERDEEN, UK – Parkmead has progressed studies for the Greater Perth area project in the UK central North Sea, which includes the Perth and Dolphin fields across blocks 15/21a/c and 14/25a.
Both are Upper Jurassic Claymore sandstone accumulations located in the Moray Firth area off northeast Scotland, which have tested 32-38° API oil at production rates of up to 6,000 b/d per well.
Parkmead’s fields within the project area have been fully appraised, with 17 wells drilled and recoverable and contingent estimated at more than 104 MMbbl of oil.
The company has been conducting detailed engineering and commercial work and has participated in programs with regional partners in line with the Wood Review and Moray Firth area study.
It continues to work toward incorporating other proven oil fields in the wider area into the Perth development. One is Athena, west of Perth, where Parkmead is the largest equity owner.
In the southern UK gas basin the company and its partners have performed detailed development concept work for thePlatypus gas field.
They found that by collaborating with other facilities in the area a minimal platform concept could be adopted, cutting development expenditure.
In addition, the field’s gas reserves could be efficiently recovered from two rather than the original envisioned three wells.
The partners are currently working on optimizing the export route for Platypus ahead of finalizing an offtake agreement, with a wide range options for infrastructure in the area.
Platypus, discovered in 2010, was successfully appraised with a horizontal well in 2012. It flow tested 27 MMcf/d of gas.
