OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized Norske Shell consent to use the Nyhamna gas plant expansion facilities on Norway’s west coast.
These entered service in 2003, as a gas-processing center for theOrmen Lange field in the Norwegian Sea.
Nyhamna is now being expanded to receive gas from thePolarled pipeline which will connect production from the Aasta Hansteen field to the Norwegian gas transport system.
It entails an increase in processing capacity from 70 MMcm/d to 84 MMcm/d, and the addition of receiving plant and equipment for Polarled; two new onshore compressors for gas compression for Ormen Lange; and construction of a new compressor to increase export capacity through the Langeled pipeline that runs from Nyhamna, via Sleipner to Easington in eastern England.
The consent allows Norske Shell consent to put into service the parts of the onshore facilities included in the expansion.
