OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has approved new emergency response measures at the Gyda field in the southern Norwegian North Sea.
Repsol Norge operates Gyda, situated between the Ula and Ekofisk complexes. The field has been developed via an integrated steel jacket platform in 66 m (216 ft) of water.
Former operator BP (nowAker BP) allocated one emergency response vessel to both the Ula and Gyda facilities.
However, PSA has acknowledged that prudent emergency response can also be provided by the Gyda field’s own MOB boat.
Improvements have been made to the MOB boat in accordance with recommendations in the analyses.
