LONDON – Independent Oil and Gas (IOG) has submitted a development plan for the Blythe gas field in the UK southern North Sea to the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA).

The location is close to existing infrastructure and other IOG-owned licenses. Blythe holds reserves estimated at 34.3 bcf and needs no further appraisal, IOG claims. The company is aiming for first gas during the second half of 2018, subject to completion of development funding.

Submission of the draft plan was a requirement of the recent extension of the license to end-December 2017.

IOG’s planned gas hub around Blythe will likely tie-in production from the nearby Elgood discovery. The company is in discussions on securing an export route for all its southern North Sea fields, including the Vulcan Satellite fields.
