NORTH SYDNEY, Australia – Hook-up and commissioning continues of compression and condensate pumping modules on the Yolla platform serving the BassGas project offshore southeast Australia.
This is the final phase of theBassGas mid life enhancement project. Partner AWE Ltd. anticipates start-up during 4Q 2017, adding that compression has the potential to substantially raise production from 2018.
Operator Origin Energy downgraded remaining reserves from the Yolla field to 7.44 MMboe at mid-year; however, the wells have performed above expectations since. Further reservoir engineering work is under way, including a revision of the static-dynamic model, to determine the significance of the well performance.
At the T/RL2 offshore license (AWE 40%), the operator is progressing development concept studies for theTrefoil field.
Production from theCasino gas project in the offshore Otway basin (AWE 25%) increased by 11% in 3Q.
The operator is assessing the potential for an additional development well and evaluating nearby prospects for potential exploration drilling.
In offshore permit VIC/P44 (AWE 25%), the operator is preparing an updated prospect and lead inventory for possible future exploration. A commercial find could tie into existing infrastructure at the Casino field.
Offshore New Zealand, AWE operates the Tui Area oil fields in the Taranaki basin. Here production fell 11% during 3Q to average 2,866 b/d.
Work continues to cut opex, including FPSO costs, in parallel with a production optimization project. An underwater inspection of the mooring system is scheduled for January 2017.
