Statoil targets further reserves in Sverdrup, Norne areas

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved Statoil’s request for further appraisal drilling at the Johan Sverdrup field, 140 km (87 mi) west of Stavanger in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved Statoil’s request for further appraisal drilling at the Johan Sverdrup field, 140 km (87 mi) west of Stavanger in the North Sea.
Here production is due to start in 2019.
Odfjell Drilling’s semisubmersibleDeepsea Atlantic will drill well 16/2-22 and a possible side track in a water depth of around 110 m (361 ft). Operations are due to start next month and should last around 30 days.
Statoil also has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to use the same rig to drill wildcat well 6608/10-17 S on production license 128, 5 km (3 mi) north of the producing Norne field.
