TEHRAN, Iran – Iranian Offshore Oil Co. (IOOC) has installed an electric submersible pump (ESP) in the 31-NR well at the Noruz field in the northwestern Persian Gulf.
Masood Biranvand, head of the Behregan Operation Zone, told news service Shana that preparations started on Aug. 31, with operations starting at the well on Oct. 26. Currently it is producing 2,000 b/d of oil.
Assuming a successful pilot application, IOOC may extend the use of ESPs to other wells at Noruz, which began production in 1971.
Shana also reported that IOOC is conducting repairs to well 5P2E at the 2-WPE Ilam platform in the Sirri region.
Once the4-DD rig has completed operations, oil production from the platform should rise by 10,000 b/d with gas increasing by 5-10 MMcf/d.
According to Manoochehe Davoodi, director of IOOC’s Technical Affairs Department, the program had been delayed due to problems with the seabed and issues with use of drilling rigs.
Production from the well will supply NGL feedstock to the Sirri Island complex.
The Iranian-builtPasargad 100 and another rig will undertake drilling and repairs of eight wells from the 1-WPE platform at Ilam field, Davoodi added.
