KOPERVIK, Norway – Gassco has completed an extensive maintenance program for facilities on the Norwegian continental shelf.
This year’s operations involved numerous demanding activities, said Kristin Kinn Kaste, Gassco svp for system operation.
The turnaround at the Kårstø process plant that receives production from various North Sea fields involved the use of both alternative export routes and coordinated shutdown of gas deliveries in certain cases.
Maintenance on Sleipner necessitated export of all gas from the Ormen Lange field in the Norwegian Sea had to be directed to the Easington terminal on the Eglish coast, she added.
“Such operations call for extensive coordination and a good flow of information in order to optimize remaining production on the NCS and to minimize the consequences.”
Norway’s annual maintenance season runs from April 1 to Sept. 30, and involves close collaboration with field operators, plants, transport system users, and downstream groups. Gassco has the primary responsibility for maintenance and serves as the hub of the work.
