COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Maersk Drilling has received a letter of early termination of the contract for the jackup Maersk Resolve at the Hejre field in the Danish North Sea.
The original contract was scheduled to end in January. OperatorDONG decided to suspend work on the project following dissatisfaction with the contractor consortium responsible for the platform.
Michael Reimer Mortensen, Maersk Drilling’s head of global sales, said: “We are all acutely aware of the difficult market situation we are facing in theoffshore drilling industry, however, it is gratifying to see a rig like the Maersk Resolve and her crew outperform expectations and complete her work scope several months ahead of schedule for the complex HP/HT development at Hejre.”
“We aim to secure a new contract for the rig as soon as possible,” he added.
The jackup, built in 2009, is designed for year-round operation in harsh environments and in water depths of up to 350 ft (107 m). It is fully high-pressure/high-temperature capable and also prepared for managed pressure drilling.
