Karoon in talks to join deepwater Tartaruga Verde project offshore Brazil

Petrobras is negotiating the sale of stakes in two fields offshore Brazil to Karoon Gas Australia.

RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras is negotiating the sale of stakes in two fields offshore Brazil to Karoon Gas Australia.

One transaction involves the transfer of 100% of the BaĂşna field, in the shallow-water post-salt Santos basin. The other is for 50% of thedeepwater Tartaruga Verde field in the post-salt Campos basin, where Petrobras will remain as operator.

BaĂşna, which came onstream in February 2013, currently produces around 45,000 b/d. Tartaruga Verde is in the initial development stage.

Karoon Gas Australia currently has five E&P concessions inBrazil.

This deal remains subject to approval by Brazil’s CADE (Administrative Council for Economic Protection) and the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

Both field sales have been performed via a bid process as part of Petrobras’ 2015-2016 Divestment Plan.
