COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Maersk Drilling’s fourth XL Enhanced ultra harsh environment jackup has undergone a naming ceremony at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea.
TheMaersk Invincible is the fourth and final newbuild ultra harsh environment jackup to join Maersk Drilling’s fleet. The combined cost was $2.6 billion.
Keppel FELS delivered the first three, while DSME will deliver the Invincible later this year.
It will then sail to the Norwegian North Sea to start a five-year firm contract withAker BP for P&A work on the Valhall field. Estimated firm contract value is $812 million, including mobilization from South Korea, but excluding cost escalation.
