HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count has increased to 20, rising by two over the past week according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Sep. 16, 2016. That number is down by nine year-over-year.
The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US GoM rig count, which also increased by two to 20. That metric is down by 11 year-over-year.
The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was down by two week-over-week at 506, with oil rigs up by two to 416, gas rigs down by three to 89, and miscellaneous rigs down by one.
Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is down by 336 rigs, with oil rigs down by 228, gas rigs down 109, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.
